candidate FAQs
The answers to your most commonly asked candidate questions
Q: How do I become a Handle candidate?

Start by emailing your CV to us, as a simple MS WORD document, along with a covering letter telling us a little bit more about your aspirations. Your details will be allocated to a consultant best suited to matching your skills with a suitable position.

Q: What is involved in the Handle interview process?
After a short phone conversation to determine how we can best help you, you will be invited to our Central London offices to meet your consultant for an informal but in-depth interview. We can offer you career advice and also give you some indication of the type of career positions that we think may be suitable for you.
Q: What documents do I need to bring when I register? We cannot progress with your job search without proof of your ID.

Please bring

  • Form of identification - Passport only

We are legally required to see proof of your identification from everyone that registers so please bring along a valid passport if you are British, or if you are an EU National, we will accept your European ID card in place of a passport. Candidates of other nationalities will need to provide a valid work visa in addition to the passport.

  • Certificates of any professional qualifications or training (e.g. University Graduation Certificate, CIMA certificate, CAM certificate).
  • Reference details covering the last five years (hard copy references are ideal).
  • If registering for temporary/contract work we will require your Bank Details and National Insurance number.
Q: How long will the interview last?
The interview process will last at least one hour - the longer you can spend, the more we can find out about you and the faster we can place you in the right job. Depending on your skill set we may evaluate your computer literacy so please allow extra time for testing.
Q: What happens next?

Your consultant will discuss any suitable vacancies or assignments with you when you register. Please keep in regular contact with your consultant, advising of them of any changes to your circumstances and we will keep you informed of any new vacancies and assignments.

Q: Can I temp for you whilst I am looking for permanent work?

Many of our candidates who are available for work immediately temp within their chosen industry. Let us know if you are available to work straight away and we will arrange for you to see a temporary consultant when you visit us.

Q: Will you contact me before sending out my CV?

By law a recruitment consultancy must always ask your permission before sending a copy of your CV to clients. Handle will ask you to sign a consent form at your time of registration. Only if we feel a vacancy is suitable for you will we forward your CV.
