A well-known publishing business is looking for a Legal Counsel to join them in an extremely visible role, offering a degree of commercial exposure rarely experienced by junior in-house lawyers.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly supporting senior members of the legal team; and providing legal and commercial advice to a range of stakeholders, including members of the senior leadership team;
  • Identifying and resolving issues in commercial transactions and communicating implications upon the business;
  • Drafting complex licensing arrangements, publishing rights agreements, supplier agreements, and distribution agreements;
  • Drafting agreements and assisting in structuring transactions for all digital initiatives including e-books, audio and print on demand.
  • Conducting due diligence in relation to proposed acquisitions and disposals;
  • Assisting in the preparation of relevant transaction documentation to include reviewing NDA agreements and term sheets;
  • Negotiating contracts where appropriate;
  • Resolution of disputes and avoidance of litigation

To be considered, you should be a qualified lawyer with c0-1PQE* - with experience of commercial contract drafting in a challenging environment. Ideally, you will have commercial knowledge of or awareness of the media landscape.
