One of the world's most iconic publishing companies are looking for an Application Support Engineer to join their growing London based team, and take responsibility for supporting their expanding range of enterprise applications.
With a diverse portfolio of instantly recognisable magazine and website brands, published in countries across the world, this is a company going from strength to strength as they adapt to the changing face of publishing in the 21st century. As part of this continual evolution they are going through a major technical and digital transformation, of which their growing suite of enterprise applications is a big part. This is a great opportunity to join a world famous brand and play a key role in the support and administration of their business critical systems.
This role will see you becoming the main point of contact for any issues relating to enterprise systems, which will include Identity Management, G-Suite, CRM, DAM and CMS products. You will be a point of escalation for IT support teams, and will need to investigate problems and provide solutions. You will need to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, and you will become a subject matter expert on key applications. You will also be expected to research and review new products and solutions, and will contribute to important decisions.
Although we are looking for someone with a technical background in desktop and network technology, this won't be a hugely hands-on role. You will need a strong core understanding of the technologies in play, and will have experience supporting enterprise level applications, but you won't be making changes to code or re-writing software. What you will need is the ability to work under your own initiative in an ever-changing environment, strong problem solving skills and the desire to learn.
To be considered for this role you will need strong Application Support experience, either from a technical or a service delivery perspective. Ideally we are looking for someone who has worked in publishing, but we are happy to consider people from similar industries. We will also be looking for evidence of the following;
- A strong knowledge of core desktop and network technologies, including Windows desktop and servers, OSX and protocols including DNS, TCP, HTTP, ICMP etc.
- Proven experience supporting enterprise level applications, ideally including identity management, G-suite, CRM, DAM and CMS applications.
- A good understanding of key infrastructure components including web and application servers, and Active Directory.
- Any experience of cloud solutions, AWS and programming languages would be beneficial.
In addition you will need exceptional communication skills, the ability to solve complex problems and keep those involved updated at all times. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and keen to learn, but experienced enough to be able to work autonomously and prioritise their tasks.
This is a great opportunity to join a world famous brand and play a key role in ensuring their enterprise applications meet and support the ambitions of the business. If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you - please contact Will Fraser at Handle Recruitment for more information.
