Database Administrator (DBA)

We are working with a global media brand looking to add a Database Administrator to their team. This position will be responsible for managing the performance, integrity, and security of our client's data, building the technical team required to support their new multi-cloud data lake (currently under development) and delivering technical recommendations and solutions which will enable to continue the enrichment and accessibility of all data assets.

The Role:

  • Management of AWS environment and budget
  • Establish the needs of users, monitor user access and security, control access permissions and privileges
  • Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
  • Create and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
  • Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
  • Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
  • Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database
  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines
  • Refining the physical DB design to meet system storage requirements
  • Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
  • Commission and install new applications and customise existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose
  • Assess and refine existing SSIS packages and automate where possible


  • SQL experience
  • Knowledge of Data visualisation tools such as Looker and Tableau
  • Experience with AWS & Cloud environments
  • Languages: Python, SCALA, SPARK SSIS
  • Business awareness and understanding of business requirements of IT
  • A willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology
  • An understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act.
  • Previous line management experience


  • Publisher / Media background
  • Knowledge of CRM and Digital marketing
  • Database architecture experience
  • Knowledge of ETL design and delivery
