We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a major international publisher, based in London, and help them in the management and delivery of web and enterprise applications.
Working in an ever-evolving technical environment, you will take responsibility for the development and support of the cloud and virtual infrastructure that underpins a broad range of digital products. This is a great opportunity to join a well-established global brand and play a key role in the growth and continual improvement of their DevOps team.
The core focus of this role will be the provisioning, configuring and administration of cloud based and virtual infrastructure, and the Linux operating system environments. This will also include extending and maintaining process automation capabilities for the continuous integration and delivery of web applications developed by internal teams as well as third parties. You will work as part of the broader digital technology team and contribute to the overall development of new products and features.
We are happy to consider people at a range of different levels for this role. You could be someone with good Linux systems administration experience, with some knowledge of cloud, source code, release management and process automation, looking to grow your DevOps experience. Or you could be a more established DevOps engineer with experience of setting up and running processes, and mentoring others. Either way, you will need to be hands-on, confident and flexible, with strong problem solving skills, the ability to work under your own initiative and exposure to Agile processes and values.
From a technical point of view, it is essential that you have strong Linux administration and scripting skills (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu), along with as much as possible of the following;
- Proficiency with process automation tools (Chef, Puppet, Capistrano).
- A broad knowledge of AWS (S3, RDS, Cloudformation, Cloudfront, AWS Config) and/or Azure (Storage Account, Web App etc).
- Exposure to continuous integration and delivery (Bitbucket, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus).
- Experience of working with Git-based source code management.
- Knowledge of web security design and best practice (OWASP).
- Experience of Agile processes, WordPress administration, web server configuration and monitoring tool management.
- Ideally, experience working with an Atlassian platform, and proficiency in at least one programming language.
In addition, you will need strong planning, communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced, ever evolving environment. If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you. Please contact Will Fraser at Handle Recruitment for more information.
