Job Description

Finance Director - Gaming

Highly creative and successful international gaming business are looking for a high calibre, passionate FD who will act as a finance and commercial leader and play an integral part in the companies exciting growth plans.

The responsibilities below outline the core of the role but the key is to do whatever is needed for the business is to be successful. As part of the leadership team you'll play a key role in helping identify opportunities to improve based on your experience or intuition. These could range from initiatives to improve culture in the office, to spearheading our entry into new markets or negotiating game changing licensing or distribution deals.

Accounting Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility and oversight of day to day financial transactions; accounts payable, general ledger and payroll
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and management accounts
  • Review and distribute to management COGS and department operating expenses
  • Prepare financial section of Board of Director presentation
  • Prepare reports for debt covenants or other required 3rd party reporting
  • Prepare UK and other tax returns, work with advisors
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls
  • Manage and lead the finance team


Finance Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with leadership to develop a comprehensive annual budget, including detailed revenue computations, employee hiring plans, capital expenditures, cash burn, marketing budgets and planning
  • Develop and maintain financial models, keeping updated for all hiring, direct costs and other elements that are included in the financial forecast
  • Review updated forecast with the founders each month
  • Various financial analysis including key performance indicators on a by game basis, productivity, gross margin, and contribution
  • Review and plan for game launches including cash and marketing allocations
  • Monitor currency markets and hedge accordingly
  • Own all aspects of operating budget, both day to day and long term
  • Review and run all commercial contracts and deal making processes from a finance and legal perspective engaging with professional advisors as necessary
  • Review and maintain tax credits working with professional advisors
  • Monitor and direct our approach to changes in national and international tax legislation


Legal Responsibilities

  • Own the legal responsibilities of the company including IP, patents, key contracts
  • Maintain legal files and electronic database of all contracts
  • Maintain employee personal files and stock option files
  • Assist founders with other various legal matters


Other Responsibilities

  • Partner with the founders in running the equity compensation and structure of the Company
  • Continue to develop and maintain employee compensation guidelines including base pay and stock option grants
  • Review and approve employee offer letters
  • Maintain capitalization table

REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified UK Chartered Accountant or equivalent strongly preferred
  • Recent technology or gaming company experience preferred
  • Strong analytical experience within a big data environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, including revenue recognition, tax and equity accounting
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient with systems including analytics systems, accounting systems and related system preferable
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, initiative, and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-financial leaders
  • Proven leader who can work collaboratively, build, manage and motivate a team of finance staff and build strong relationships across the Company
  • Strong interpersonal skills an absolute must
