Financial Controller - Music Business (Part time)

My client, an exciting music business with international presence based in Central London are seeking a qualified Financial Controller to join their business to manage and take control of the finance function. This is a newly created position due to growth; turnover has been doubling for the last couple of years. and it is a very exciting time to be joining the business.

They are ideally looking for qualified (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or QBE candidates that have experience in SME businesses where they are comfortable and confident managing the finance function on their own. This is the first role in finance as my client is bringing it in house, so it's a great opportunity to make it their own.

Main responsibilities for the Financial Controller:

  • Process all book-keeping, quarterly management accounts, lodge annual company accounts, lodge resolutions with HMRC, maintain statutory books, including registers of members, directors and secretaries
  • Deal with correspondence, collate information and write reports, ensuring decisions made are communicated to the relevant company stakeholders
  • Liaise with external regulators and advisers, such as lawyers and auditors
  • Manage share option schemes, take a role in share issues and maintain the register of shareholders
  • Monitor the administration of the company's pension scheme
  • Oversee and renew insurance cover for employees, equipment and premises along with managing matters relating to other types of insurance and property
  • Enter into contractual agreements with suppliers and customers
  • Providing and interpreting financial information
  • Monitoring and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends
  • Analysing change and advising accordingly
  • Formulating strategic and long-term business plans
  • Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance
  • Analysing competitors and market trends
  • Developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk
  • Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
  • Managing company's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems
  • Producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines
  • Oversee company expenditure and manage the budget
  • Process all digital payments and sales invoices
  • Ensuring that a company's cash flow is adequate to allow it to operate effectively
  • Forecasting cash payments and anticipating challenges arising from limited cash flow;
    undertaking risk management activities to protect a company's financial well-being;
  • help with making decisions on company finances, for example, the funding of company operations;
  • Helping to evaluate the financial impact of new business ventures;
  • Attending relevant senior management meetings;
  • Help with fundraising

Experience required:

  • All around finance experience required within a SME business
  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or QBE
  • Music experience (desirable)
  • Passion for music
