Head of Finance - TV
Highly successful TV business are looking for qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA Head of Finance from a TV background with experience of PMI to oversee the finance function both in the UK and US, managing and motivating a team and supply commercial guidance to senior management.
Head of Finance to manage the UK/ROI financial operations of a fast growing TV production business. Reporting to the MD this is a hands-on, varied role covering all aspects of operational & commercial finance as well as leading a small team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review/preparation of monthly management accounts pack, variance analysis and commentary
- Cash-flow management & analysis and monthly forecasts and re-forecasting as required
- Preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts and all Financial Planning & Analysis related matters
- Management and development of financial systems
- Preparation and maintenance financial projections including projected monthly profit and loss accounts and monthly cash-flows, and future years rolling forecasts
- Financial modelling of new opportunities that become available to the business to assess profit opportunities, risks and contribution to the existing business
- VAT calculations and filing company returns
- Preparation of intercompany recharges
- Preparation of annual year-end accounts, statutory packs and audit files
- Liaising with auditors and other regulatory bodies
- Manage a small junior finance team
- In conjunction with the Finance Assistants, all other book-keeping duties and general ledger management as required
- Coordinating with production accountants and production managers, monitoring and challenging expenditure against budget
- Monthly payroll
- Any other relevant tasks as they arise
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience
- Experience with PMI (Essential)
- Advanced Excel skills (Essential)
- Familiarity with Sage and Xero (Preferable)
- Experience of managing staff (small Finance function)
- Previous experience in the entertainment sector ideally TV/Film production
- Hands-on but also business facing and able to take a bigger picture approach
- Attention to detail
- Good report writing skills
- Self-starter and team player
- Able to work under pressure and to deliver to tight deadlines
- Able to demonstrate experience in managing several projects/tasks simultaneously
- Able to demonstrate experience in working with both production and central teams
- Able to demonstrate ability and experience in improving processes
- Willingness and ability to take on ad-hoc projects
- Willingness to travel (there will be some regular travel required e.g. Dublin)
