We are looking for a hands-on IT Manager who can manage the day to day running of IT for a market leading Publishing and Communications Agency based in London.
You will have a broad remit to deliver first class IT support for a demanding user base within a busy, vibrant environment where no two days are ever the same. The core focus of this role will be to lead and manage all day-to-day IT support and service delivery to users throughout the company in a mixed Windows and Mac environment, while also managing the underlying IT infrastructure. You will have an IT Assistant reporting into you, so you will need to manage their day to day activities and career development, while also acting as an escalation point for technical problems. You must be comfortable working under your own initiative, exceptional at managing relationships with users and with suppliers, and capable of combining common sense and technical knowledge to address issues and prioritise your workload.
In addition to ensuring a high level of IT support is constantly provided, you will also be responsible for managing the continual evolution of the IT infrastructure. There is a desire to keep improving the IT systems, and you will be vital to this process, both in terms of making suggestions and influencing decisions, and by managing the projects to a successful conclusion. You will need to be able to hold your own when dealing with challenging stakeholders, and will be expected to build long term working relationships both internally and externally. This is a diverse technical environment, so we are looking for people with broad technical skills, but also the ability to lead an IT function within a business.
To be considered for this role, you must have a proven track record of commercial experience in an IT Manager role or similar. Ideally, you will have come from a small to medium sized business, preferably in the media sector. In addition, we are looking for the following;
- Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, Active Directory and Office 365.
- Management of backup systems (Veritas Backup Exec), and knowledge of VMware and Veeam.
- Strong networking skills with a solid understanding of TCP/IP and VOIP.
- Excellent knowledge of PC and Mac support, including a strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud for PC/Mac.
- ITIL service management experience, ideally including a qualification.
- Previous experience managing small teams, managing relationships with suppliers and delivering technical projects.
You will also need excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills, the ability to manage your time and work on multiple projects simultaneously, and first class communication skills. Breadth of experience, a logical approach to problem solving and the ability to take ownership of issues through to a successful resolution is what we're looking for here.
