PR Officer - Maternity Cover

My client an international events company is urgently seeking an experienced and dedicated PR Officer to work within their marketing team. The role would be a maternity cover for the duration of one year. The ideal applicant would need to be highly motivated with a get eye for ideal. The main focus of the role would be to maximise awareness of the event and generate a detailed understanding of key brand values through publicity and communications initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation and distribution of press releases
  • Being a member of the Festival Press Office team, assisting onsite with daily press conferences, distribution of information to media, social media/media monitoring and administrative duties
  • Identifying potential new relationships with media
  • Maintaining and nurturing existing media relationships
  • Identifying editorial opportunities based on industry issues/trends
  • Prepare and pitch proposals for proactive editorial
  • Ad-hoc copywriting including social media posts, website content, emails, announcements, press kits, speeches
  • Identifying opportunities for profile-building across all channels
  • Developing and managing relationships with agency and brand PR/communications managers
  • Assisting with maintenance of PR systems including press registration, press portal, database, media monitoring and online storage/distribution systems
  • Attending relevant internal meetings and updates team regarding PR initiatives

Experience Required

  • A minimum 5 years' experience in an agency or brand PR or communications department
  • A record of PR campaigns delivering measurable impact
  • A sound understanding of the branded communications industry, including current issues/trends
  • Press centre or events management would be a strong advantage
