Job Description

Our client, an incredible sports group, are seeking a qualified accountant to come on board as the Lead Financial Accountant. The role will involve a lot of Business Partnering and Relationship Management.

The ideal candidate will be:

The role will involve:

  • Reviewing and approving financial accounting team journals
  • Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations including liaising with commercial finance to review and challenge variance analysis
  • Preparing balance sheet summary and divisional balance sheet reconciliation file
  • Opening, closing and roll forward of the ledger
  • Preparing monthly timetable and financial accounting calendar
  • Approving changes to the chart of accounts
  • Review grant income schedules ensuring grant income appropriately recognised and tracked over the life of the grants.
  • Liaise with commercial finance, reviewing commercial deals and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment
  • Partnering with the business ensuring accurate and timely completion of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasting
  • Managing the internal audit process, including the relationship with our internal audit provider
  • Responsible for capex management and maintenance of the group fixed asset register and ensuring additions and disposals are properly accounted for in line with the groups accounting policies
  • Review and approve payment runs as required
  • Managing Financial accountings relationship AP/AR and assisting with supplier due diligence
  • Stakeholder management across the business
  • Review employer covenants and compliance certificates
  • Review and approval of the groups charity and trust accounts, including financial statement review and audit liaison
  • Maintain group accounting policies
  • Review of group impairment and going concern papers
  • Central point of contact for technical accounting queries
  • Ensure statutory compliance and filing deadlines are met
  • Preparation of audit committee papers
  • Review the quarterly pension covenant reporting
  • Review office of national statistics returns and ensure on time filing
  • Stakeholder management across the business
