One of the UK's most widely recognisable charities are looking for a Web Operations Engineer to join their London based team and take responsibility for managing the infrastructure which supports their web and digital operations.
With an ever growing portfolio of digital products and a recently launched new website, this is a charity that is really investing in their digital channels. All of this runs on a Microsoft based digital infrastructure, and that is where this role comes in, as you will need to support and develop this to ensure the websites and digital products are working. This is a great opportunity to join a charity that helps a huge number of people across the country, play a key role in the support and evolution of their digital platforms.
The core focus of the role will be to support the infrastructure that in turn supports the website and digital products. These are developed by a third party agency and hosted in-house, so you will need to collaborate closely with external developers and internal QA teams. You will manage the server environment, which is a combination of on-site and cloud hosted, and will take responsibility for monitoring, support and upgrade work. You will work closely with the wider digital team on a broad variety of projects, and will need to ensure that the infrastructure can support any new releases or products that are in the pipeline. You will also gain exposure to DevOps technologies and processes.
To be considered for this role you must have a track record of experience in an application support / development role or similar, ideally in a charity or not-for-profit environment, although we are happy to consider applicants from any sector. You will need experience with as many as possible of the following technologies;
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012 and IIS 7/8
- Windows Command Line and/or PowerShell, including a good understanding of scripting
- Amazon Web Services
- MS SQL Server and TCP/IP networking
In addition, any exposure to .NET C# (WebForms and/or MVC), EPiServer CMSNode.js, Atlassian tools, Git and serverless technologies would be highly beneficial. We are also looking for people with strong problem solving skills, a high level of attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
This is a great opportunity to work for a well-respected charity and to help contribute towards the good work they do for society. If this appeals to you, along with having a great work-life balance and the chance to work on some really interesting projects, please contact Will Fraser at Handle Recruitment for more information.
