We are looking for someone with strong web application support skills, including experience supporting content management systems, to join a global publisher, based in London, as a Web Support Engineer.
With a diverse portfolio of instantly recognisable magazine and website brands, published in countries across the world, this is a company going from strength to strength as they adapt to the changing face of publishing in the 21st century. As part of this continual evolution they are going through a major technical and digital transformation, and the content management system is a big part of that. This is a great opportunity to join a world famous brand and play a key role in the support and administration of their CMS and associated technical systems.
The core focus of this role will be the support of the content management system - a complex, business critical system which is used across multiple international teams. You will be a point of escalation for first line teams, and will be expected to investigate problems, provide solutions, and coordinate with development and engineering teams when required. You will be involved in bug fixes, coordinating feature requests, and generally being a subject matter expert for anything related to the CMS.
You will also take responsibility for monitoring applications and services, dealing with alerts and handling incidents. You will get involved in documenting systems changes, reporting on usage, and training users. In addition to your technical skills, you will need the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders, to manage your workload and prioritise your tasks, and to contribute towards the continual evolution of the CMS and related systems.
To be considered for this role you must have a background in a web/application support role or similar, ideally in a media/creative environment, and it is important that you have solid hands-on CMS support experience. In addition we are looking for the following;
- Strong knowledge of content management systems, including CMS back-end support.
- Experience using web inspection tools, including the ability to identity issues around involving network traffic and console errors.
- Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Pingdon, Datadog).
- Event/log management and trend analysis, including the ability to identify patterns.
- Basic network knowledge, including an understanding of DNS.
- An understanding of web application architecture, and ideally a basic knowledge of Linux.
In addition we are looking for someone with proven experience working with software engineers and web developers, with strong all-round communication skills and a proactive approach to work. Experience working in an international environment would be highly advantageous, as would a knowledge of/interest in web development.
This is a great opportunity to join a world famous brand and play a key role in ensuring their CMS meets and supports the ambitions of the business. We have a very broad salary range for this role, and are happy to consider people with varying levels of experience. If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you - please contact Will Fraser at Handle Recruitment for more information.
