London Fashion Week is sadly now over. It has been a week full of effortless style, bloggers, flat shoes and wearable designs. With so many exciting and reputable British Designers taking over London’s catwalks, it was only fair that handle’s Fashion and Retail team got a small slice of the (skinny) action.
Our very own Sarah Cullen and Sophie Moloney were invited to attend the LULU LIU show hosted by Fashion Scout, one of the UK’s largest fashion showcases for emerging and established design talent, on day 2 of London Fashion Week. Sarah Cullen, handle’s Fashion & Retail Consultant stated “the Freemasons Building near Covent Garden is a structure steeped in history and set in amazing historical surroundings, so it seemed like the perfect place for Fashion Scout to be”.
LULU LIU has showcased 5 seasons with Fashion Scout at LFW, with her most recent AW13 collecting receiving an overwhelming response from press and buyers. With this in mind, handle’s fashion and retail team knew they were in for a real treat.
Sarah went on to explain “we took our seats with anticipation for LULU LIU’s SS14 show. As each design graced the catwalk, it was immediately evident that she took her inspiration from fairy-tale heroines and fantasy. Each design had a whimsical feel which included layers of floaty tussled fabric. Her designs encapsulated some of SS15 trends such as rainbow candy gems, texture and two tier dresses”.
LULU LIU came to the UK from China in 2008 to study at the famous London College of Fashion. After graduating, she worked alongside fashion giants Alexander McQueen and Giles Deacon, before launching her own collections which have been shown at the V&A London, Future Map Exhibition, Vauxhall Fashion Scout 2012 and the Zipzone Paris showroom. Her garments have graced a variety of fashion publications including Vogue, Elle, and Cosmopolitan.
