The PR industry's finest talent assembled at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday night, to be lauded with the most sought-after accolades of the year. With some surprise wins and a well-deserved standing ovation for the LOGOC team for their incredible London 2012 campaign, the night was a fantastic showcase for the brilliant PR work done in the UK this year.

The Handle PR team made its debut, and we were delighted to see so many of our clients and former candidates in attendance, and winning awards and commendations. Joining us was our competition winner, graduate Sophie Hancox, who successfully pitched to us on Friday to secure her place at the prestigious event.

Fully aware of what an incredible opportunity it was to be amongst the best in the business, Sophie did her research in preparation and identified some key players with whom she wanted to connect. With the help of the Handle PR team, she was able to make some superb contacts, gain valuable advice and was soon busily swapping details and discussing internships with some of the top agencies in the UK!

As Handle's first PR Week Awards, as well as the first time we have run a competition such as this, it was thoroughly rewarding to see our project work so beautifully! Not least because of the composure and maturity demonstrated by Sophie and her infectious passion for the industry, which impressed numerous influential people on the night.

We will be following Sophie's career progress closely as she completes her Masters, and continues to engage with the contacts she made at the event. As the number of followers she has on Twitter has apparently gone through the roof this week, it does indeed seem as though her dream of becoming "one to watch" in PR has already started to come true!
