Finance Director - Studios

Award winning global entertainment company are looking for Finance Director to oversee their highly successful studios.

This role reports directly to the CFO with a dotted line into the Production leadership team through the Chief Content Officer / VP Production. The role will work closely with these individuals to create efficient and effective budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes in Studios.

The role is based in the London head office and will work extensively with our LA team where much of our creative team is based.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the preparation of annual budgets, forecasting, tracking and reporting on a timely basis. Improving the quality and reliability of the data and decision making.
  • Create improved metrics to report and analyse the investment and costs of content ($100M annual content spend)
  • Assess current processes, controls and capabilities to deliver improved processes in a high volume transaction process
  • In partnership with Studios leaders, review and advise on external production partners and commercial terms and support in any negotiations
  • Working with HR to ensure freelancers have the correct contracts, and that employees are allocated to the relevant projects
  • With the Commercial team, ensure revenue recorded correctly, and ensure invoices are raised in a timely manner
  • Improve the controls around approvals of spend, allocation of costs, reporting
  • Setting monthly spend and cash forecasts
  • Oversee the tax relief/rebate process for the UK and worldwide
  • Working with the Production and Commercial teams in ad hoc costing proposals
  • Build the capability of the team and coach and support their development

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with demonstrated experience in content production
  • Experience gained in a smaller production company, creative sector or start-up experience will be a huge advantage.
  • Proactive, self starter, willing to get stuck in
  • Attention to detail and being a completer-finisher
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Passionate about content and building relationships with creative colleagues
  • Able to prioritise in a fast moving, dynamic environment
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Xero experience would be a plus
