Financial Controller - TV Production

Award winning high-end drama TV & Film production company are looking for a Financial Controller to join the team. Ideally from a TV/Film background with drama production experience, the person will report into the COO and should be a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) who enjoys the challenge of supporting a fast-growing business. Excellent attention to detail, technical, commercially minded and solution driven, the individual will see the role as critical to helping the business deliver great programmes from a group of people who enjoy working together as part of a team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Group Reporting

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely monthly consolidated management accounts (Rolling forecast P&L, balance sheet and Cash flow) are prepared for Mgt review
  • Ensuring production profitability is accurately reflected in the Mgt accounts, actuals with supporting TB's and forecasts in line with Cost Reports.
  • Preparing quarterly forecasts, risks and ops and annual budget
  • Reviewing and submitting the group reporting packs
  • Assisting the COO in preparation of Board packs and other management information as required

Statutory Accounts and Audit

  • Main audit point of contact for Group audit dealing with queries and providing supporting information as required
  • Liaising with company's external accountants/bookkeepers to prepare supporting schedules for group auditors
  • Working with production accountants to ensure tax credit audits are completed according to agreed timescales and tax filings submitted promptly to ensure borrowings can be repaid.

Productions

  • Ensuring SPVs are created and dissolved in timely manner
  • Establishing back accounts and approvals matrix for each production
  • Supporting the calculation of overhead recoveries and ensuring they are accurately reflected in budgets
  • Reviewing development cost trackers and managing recharges to production

Production Controls

  • Support the COO and HOP to onboard the production teams and ensure DLP internal control framework is established and adhered to through the production
  • Main point of contact in finance for production accountants ensuring underlying ledgers are up to date and accurate
  • Assist production accountant in tax compliance queries (IR 35 etc ) and other payroll related issues.
  • Ensure production spend is tagged for regional incentives/tax credit as required and for ensuring regular reporting against budget for these two items

Finance Ops

  • Managing the weekly pay run with external bookkeeper
  • Quarterly IP reporting to main profit participants (3 titles at present)
  • Other ad hoc support to COO as required.

Person Profile:

  • Qualified ACA, CIMA or ACCA
  • Previous experience of working in TV and/or Film production
  • Developing financial systems, processes and information
  • Strong team leader, motivator and pro-active attitude
  • Able to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders and able to explain financials to non-financial staff
