An award-winning global creative agency is looking for a General Counsel. Reporting to the Global COO, the role is a fantastic opportunity for a commercial lawyer to join a large yet still rapidly growing agency with a presence in multiple territories. You will be the primary source advising the business on all legal issues that arise, working closely with all group companies across the globe.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Commercial:
Deal structuring, review and negotiation of client and supplier contracts with the objective of protecting the agency's interests. This will include negotiation with extremely high-profile brands, as well as a range of talent (influencers, celebrities etc.) and project-related and general business service providers
Advising the business on a range of ad-hoc legal queries, in areas such as marketing law, IP, data protection etc.
Identify risk from a commercial and/or legal perspective and assist with finding creative solutions
Ensure contracts are in place for all client business
Assist relevant parts of the business to understand contractual obligations and train staff members to be more legally and commercially aware
Stay on top of current legal issues and developments and share relevant information with the agency
Maintain and develop standard documentation
Advise personnel across the business on commercial decisions
Corporate:
Be involved in the drafting of internal and group business policies and procedures, and the monitoring of compliance
Advise management on business growth, M&A activity and other corporate affairs
Drafting and maintenance of board minutes

To be considered, you should be a qualified commercial lawyer with 7yrs+ PQE* with experience of a similar in-house role in the advertising or media industry. Some knowledge of corporate affairs and data protection would also be useful, but not essential.
