An extremely well-known organisation operating at the heart of the sports industry is looking for a full-time Commercial Legal Counsel.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of governing body-related and commercial agreements, such as representation agreements, subagent agreements, image rights agreements, consulting agreements, services agreements, vendor agreements, intellectual property license agreements, NDAs and releases;

  • Providing advice on governing body rules and regulations and other on-field matters as well as legal and regulatory compliance across many jurisdictions;

  • Supporting and increasing organisational efficiency and achievement of business objectives in a manner that minimises legal risk;

  • Advising commercial teams on business strategy for transactions of varying complexity and providing real-time and thoughtful advice on a variety of business and legal issues; and

  • Anticipating and identifying potential legal problems for senior leaders and assisting such individuals in developing strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of risk.

To be considered, you should be qualified lawyer; have a strong academic background and demonstrable exposure to commercial contracts - with Sports and football industry-specific experience preferred. Excellent drafting skills and a commercial approach are a prerequisite, as is the capacity to build strong relationships with colleagues across the business.
