What You'll Be Doing:
Reporting to the UK Financial Controller, you'll take the lead on key areas of the finance function and work closely with a small but mighty team. Your mission? To bring clarity to the numbers, deliver accurate reporting, and provide the insights that drive smart, strategic decisions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
🧾 Month-End & Management Accounts
Prepare and produce monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, variance analysis)
Post and reconcile journals - accruals, prepayments, deferred income, payroll, depreciation
Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and calculate monthly depreciation
Update monthly and annual cash flow forecasts
📊 Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
Support year-end audit processes, liaising with external auditors
Help compile data for statutory accounts and corporation tax
Coordinate P11Ds and PSA submissions with external accountants
📈 Budgeting & Forecasting
Support the annual budgeting cycle
Provide insightful variance analysis and quarterly updates
Monitor actuals vs. budgets and report discrepancies
🏦 Banking & Payments
Perform monthly reconciliations
Process purchases payments and salary rolls with financial controller approval
Must-haves:
Part-qualified or actively studying CIMA / ACCA / ACA (or equivalent)
Strong experience in management accounting, ideally within an SME
Proficiency in NetSuite is essential; Excel is second nature; Sage 200 is a bonus
Top-notch analytical skills and a great eye for detail
Confident communicator, especially with non-finance stakeholders
Able to juggle deadlines, multitask, and stay calm under pressure
Experience in cash flow management
