A fantastic new opportunity for an experienced Freelance Photo Editor to join NBC News Digital. The Photo Editor will work closely with editors, reporters, and art directors to visualise stories on the website and all digital platforms.


Hours are Fridays: 10am-6pm, Saturdays: 8am-2pm, and Mondays: 8am-2pm. Occasionally, up to 40 hours of fill-in coverage will be required. This opportunity is for a 3-6 month contract with an option to renew.

Responsibilities:
  • Research, select and edit images for inclusion in stories published on the website & digital platforms

  • Monitor news agency feeds to identify strong images for breaking and developing news stories

  • Edit and compose captions and headlines for photos and galleries on our digital platforms

  • Create photo essays and photo galleries

  • Work with multiple stakeholders and execute assignments from editors on a wide range of topics for all platforms

Qualifications:
  • Photo editor experience at a news organisation

  • Portfolio that demonstrates an eye for storytelling, concept, composition, and colour

  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Ability to work on quick deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Must have a broad knowledge and curiosity about news, and a keen eye for spotting interesting and newsworthy visual content

  • Understanding of journalism ethics, image copyright, and digital licensing


This role is based in London, with both remote and in-office capacity.
