Part Time Bookkeeper - TV & Film Production
Award winning television and film production company which produces prestigious and ambitious television shows with global appeal are looking for a Part Time (3 days a week) Bookkeeper to join their small but highly successful team.
Working closely with the Finance Director and wider team, this role will contribute to the smooth operation of productions and the company's growth. You will help manage financial administration across our development slate, corporate accounts, and slate-level reporting, supporting the company's operations. They are a small, collaborative team, so we're looking for someone hands-on, proactive, and comfortable pitching in across a range of tasks as we scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
- Maintain clear and organised digital files for all finance documentation.
- Ensure employee expense claims are supported by receipts and coded accurately.
- Support the Finance Director in meeting statutory and contractual reporting requirements.
Financial Control
- Manage the sales ledger and ensure timely collection of all receivables.
- Manage the purchase ledger, prepare payments, and monitor approvals.
- Reconcile all bank accounts.
- Track funding and spend across development projects and productions.
- Support the Finance Director in maintaining financial control of all production activity and SPVs.
Reporting
- Prepare relevant project cost reports for the Finance Director.
- Assist in producing board reports and timely management accounts.
- Contribute to awareness and tracking of global financing opportunities, particularly production incentives.
Systems & Processes
- Become the in-house Movie Magic Budgeting expert (training provided).
- Manage company subscriptions and software licences.
- Support the Finance Director in maintaining and improving the company website.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the finance lead and wider team.
- Suggest and test improvements to workflows using emerging technologies (e.g. automation tools, AI reporting).
Skills and Experience:
Essential
- Experience in finance and the TV and film production industry
- Well organised with excellent attention to detail
- Numerate, with good Excel skills (e.g. basic formulas, formatting)
- A hands-on, can-do attitude - willing to take initiative and roll up your sleeves
- Comfortable working with data and digital systems
- Able to handle confidential information with professionalism
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles (e.g. accruals, reconciliations)
- Experience using Xero
