On the 14th September 2016 The Amy Winehouse Foundation celebrated its 5th Birthday. Jaye Harrison from Handle had the honour of presenting on the night from Camden Market. There were special pop ups and the KERB stage featured some of the fabulous artists from the Amy’s Yard development programme.  Here’s what Jaye had to say about her experience of being part of such a special night.

"It was a real pleasure and an honour for me to host the AWF event in Camden Market – I’ve previously been a mentor on the Amy’s Yard programme which Handle delivers for AWF, so it was fantastic to see the graduates all perform both their own songs they created in Amy’s studio as well as covers in honour of the late star. The sun was shining for the whole day and it was a brilliant celebration of the work AWF have done over the past 5 years, as well as remembering Amy Winehouse in the place that she called home. It was lovely to spend time with Amy’s family as well as to introduce them on stage – the crowds were excellent and during the cover of Valerie that Jermain Jackman from the Voice performed with the Amy’s Yard graduates, the crowds all came together in a fitting singalong. The whole day and evening was a proud moment for me and I hope Handle and AWF can find more ways to carry on working together in the future.’

Handle work closely with The Amy Winehouse Foundation on their Amy’s Yard programme to deliver ‘Employability Workshop Masterclasses’. We have over thirty five years of experience working with young people searching for a huge variety of jobs within the music industry. During the session we share our knowledge and teach the participants some of the skills they'll need when seeking employment both within music and beyond.

“Not everyone gets the start in life they deserve or has access to people who can encourage them and nurture their talent / professional ambitions. The Amy’s Yard young people are all so friendly and eager to learn to give themselves the best possible chance of success in the industry.”
