It’s Bank Holiday! Here’s a selection of events happening over the weekend, hand-picked by our consultants.

  • Aladdin Sane: an exhibition at Southbank Centre marking 50 years since Bowie’s album was released with a programme of events. Until 28th May

  • Mind Body Spirit Festival: a celebration of inspiration, connections and healing. featuring workshops and experiences, motivational speakers, musicians and performers from across the globe, and wellbeing shopping. 26th-29th May

  • African Caribbean Food Ways Day: As part of British Library's Food Season, a celebration of food heritage and community, with speakers including chefs Maria Bradford, Denai Moore, restaurant founder Akwasi Brenya-Mensa, and Jimi Famurewa. Saturday 27th May

  • Alexandra Palace’s 150th birthday:  A huge party with live music, palace tours, cinema screenings, a silent disco and more. Saturday 27th

  • Black History Bus Tour A three-hour drive starting in Brixton and passing through landmarks and covering different pivotal points in black history, from black tudors to black-owned nightclubs. Sunday 28th May

  • City Splash: A festival at Brockwell Park covering the best in Reggae, Dancehall, Afrobeats and more, with headliners including Chronixx, Koffee and Skillibeng, and more performers across seven stages, alongside over 60 different food traders serving the best in African and Caribbean food. Monday 29th May

  • MCM Comic Con at ExCel Centre: Featuring a huge programme of panels, showcases and performances, with key attendees including David Bradley (Harry PotterDoctor Who, and Game of Thrones), Harvey Guillén (What We Do In The Shadows), and many more. 26th–28th May
