Hackney is now home to three audio-inclusive grassroots music venues, thanks to the brilliant work of Sownd Affects.
With support from Arts Council England, Sownd Affects has partnered with Vortex, SJQ, and Paper Dress Vintage venues to make live music genuinely accessible for those with hearing sensitivities, neurodivergence, or sensory processing challenges.
Through tailored training, sound audits, sensory mapping, and inclusive programming, they’re reshaping the live music experience without compromising on energy or atmosphere.
It’s a huge step towards making the creative scene more welcoming and reflective of everyone who wants to be part of it. And from July, Sownd Affects is launching monthly audio-inclusive events. From sonic dining and sound baths to quiet retreats and family adventures.
Tickets are on sale for their acoustic sessions on 14th at SJQ (London N16 8JN) & Jazz sessions on 21st of July at Vortex (London N16 8AZ).
