Job Title: Account Executive

We are looking for a Syndication and Licensing Account Executive to join our client's small syndication team. The team are responsible for the international sale and distribution of content from our client's various publications.

Although they are a small team, they turn over millions per year in revenue and are hugely profitable. This role is instrumental in helping to meet ambitious sales targets whilst protecting and developing their brands.

How you will contribute:

  • Negotiate market applicable fees and prepare legal contracts for all renewing clients in line with budgets and sales forecasts
  • Overlook and ensure a smooth on-boarding process for new clients
  • Look after the ongoing rights, materials and access needs of our existing customers.
  • Oversee creation of suitable sales support materials and brand presentations as required, and input into all marketing and promotional activities the team undertakes
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan for existing clients, including webinars and newsletters
  • Attend brand meetings where appropriate and communicating changes to clients as well as giving feedback on our business to the publishers and wider publishing team
  • Create and follow appropriate guidelines, ensuring licensing and copyright procedures are adhered to by clients
  • Manage the regular invoicing and reporting process, including supporting bad-debt recovery and attendance and contribution to regular forecast meetings
  • Take ownership of our automated rights and permissions service, Rightslink including dealing with customers' queries and reconciling the monthly financial reports
  • Negotiate ad hoc sales and permissions requests
  • Deal with enquiries regarding content copyright and license/brand misuse
  • Assist other members of the team as necessary

The ideal skills, abilities, and attributes for this job include:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including understanding of the subtleties of local business practice and other cultures. An ability to be clear, particularly when dealing with clients for whom English is their second language.
  • A good level of numeracy, competence with financial spreadsheets and attention to detail when dealing with these.
  • Ability to form strong internal and external relationships, face to face by phone and over email
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload
  • Creativity in marketing and customer service, writing newsletters and creating marketing materials

It is also an advantage if you have:

  • Account Management experience
  • Fluency in any modern foreign language
  • Previous experience working in publishing, in particular in Syndication and Licensing or rights
