Handle Recruitment is pleased to have partnered with a pioneering talent development organisation and charity specialising in Jazz music to source a Development Coordinator.

This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join a small yet dynamic and creative team, passionate about jazz music, diversity and inclusion, and inspired to make a positive impact, at a highly respected organisation with a vital cause at its heart.

Working closely with our Head of Development, Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer, this person will support the implementation of the organisation's fundraising strategies. The key areas of responsibility will include the effective administration of researching, building and maintaining donor and client databases. You will work on many aspects of development including fundraising events, corporate partnerships, individual giving, public and private grant funding, delivering against targets and helping to ensure the sustainability and growth of the charity.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the SMT, Head of Development and Finance Team to develop and manage data in relation to funding and fundraising

  • Research new prospects using introductions from existing supporters, the Board, other contacts, and any other sources as appropriate

  • Conduct research into existing and potential individual prospects alongside corporate social responsibility initiatives

  • Ensure full compliance with the Fundraising Regulator and General Data Protection Regulation

  • Develop and manage our Membership scheme from recruitment to cultivation to retention

  • Deliver an ongoing programme of creative and inspiring communications for individual supporters that features staff and activity from across the charity

  • Plan and deliver an ongoing monthly programme of interesting events for our members, donors and prospects - including drinks receptions and behind the scenes moments with artists and other specialist staff (virtually or face to face)

  • Use a variety of tools, approaches and channels (eg direct mail, email, mobile, social media) to grow the size and value of the supporter base on an annual basis

  • Support the Head of Development to deliver Corporate Partnership strategies and activities to meet annual targets

  • Work with the Marketing and Communications and Special Events teams to ensure required PR/communications benefits for corporate partners are developed and delivered

  • Keep all administrative systems up to date to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all development activity

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of a wide range of fundraising techniques, in particular individual donor fundraising

  • Experience of developing and implementing individual donor care plans and donor stewardship communications, using tools including Mailchimp

  • Excellent administrative, organisational, planning and record keeping skills with strong attention to detail

  • Experience of coordinating public fundraising campaigns and creating marketing and promotional materials

  • Experience of coordinating volunteers, donor cultivation events or fundraising events

  • Experience of working in an arts organisation / charity sector
