We're seeking a Senior Music Licensing Manager to join a dynamic team at an industry-leading organisation, focusing on groundbreaking music licensing initiatives across Africa.

About the Role:

As the Senior Music Licensing Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Partnership Development to lead the execution of new music licenses across diverse industry sectors throughout Africa. From identifying opportunities to negotiating and implementing licenses, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the approach to licensing music with African broadcasters, SVoD services, and multinational brands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate potential licensing prospects, devising innovative commercial models and strategies to onboard them as valued partners.
  • Collaborate closely with the Legal, Commercial, and Financial teams to develop robust commercial models tailored to key licensing market segments.
  • Spearhead licensing negotiations and onboard new commercial partners, championing the importance of music copyright.
  • Utilise financial modelling and analytics to inform the development of licensing models across diverse sectors.
  • Craft persuasive papers and presentations for key stakeholders, gathering approval for strategic initiatives and new license deals.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure seamless revenue distribution to members post-deal implementation.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • Possess an outstanding commercial skill set, including a track record of building trust, negotiating deals, and crafting effective business strategies.
  • Demonstrate proven expertise in identifying and seizing new revenue opportunities within complex business environments.
  • Showcase strong experience in leading licensing negotiations with broadcasters, SVoD platforms, and digital services or similar entities.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills, proficient at conveying complex concepts to senior stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
  • Thrive in challenging deal-making environments, with a knack for problem-solving and a comfort level working with legal contracts.
  • Display a driven and dynamic approach, with a genuine passion for driving revenue growth and achieving success in demanding business domains.


  • Previous involvement in the music industry, providing valuable insights and connections.
  • Experience leading negotiations at a senior level and navigating deal-making processes in the African continent.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property laws and legal contract management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cultivating trusted business partnerships and expert stakeholder management across all organisational levels.
