Financial Controller - Music
Rapidly expanding music business requires an experienced qualified ACCA or CA to join the finance team in London in a key role to lead the core finance and financial reporting team under the Finance Director.
The role is focused on leading the team to run a state-of-the-art transactional finance function, as well as provide accurate consolidated UK and US group reporting and compliant statutory filings.
The candidate must be adaptable and highly self-motivated. Fund accounting experience is preferred. The candidate will be pro-active, professional, resilient and have a positive attitude.
This pivotal role will involve the following:
Core Finance:
Lead, manage and motivate a team to run accounts receivable, accounts payable and banking functions within a growing business to tight deadlines
Responsible for keeping the lights on within the finance function to ensure timely payments and cash reporting on a daily basis
Liaise with wider team to provide high quality transactional information and documentation (e.g. Group Treasurer, Revenue Management Team, FP&A Team, Investment Team, etc)
Working within an increasingly rigid controls environment, with upcoming SOX implementation
Reporting:
Consolidation of US reporting into the UK head office group
Responsible for accurate and complete consolidation entries and intercompany reporting
Responsible for accuracy and completeness of accounting entries under IFRS and provision of accurate TB and ledger information for management reporting
Responsible for preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS
Provision of P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations for all GL accounts
Audit & Compliance:
Run the core finance function within a controlled environment
Lead all statutory and non-statutory audits where comfort is sought on the Group's financials or financial reports
Ensure all financial statutory compliance requirements and filings are fulfilled
Responsible for liaising with tax partners to ensure timely tax filings and payments and all tax compliance matters wherever required
Systems:
Responsible for proper functionality of the Microsoft Dynamics finance system
Ownership of financial and ledger data in Microsoft Dynamics
Responsibility for managing third party banking platforms and automated links to the finance system
Ensuring a rigid control environment across the Group's finance systems
Running Jet Reports to provide tailored reporting to various stakeholders
Responsible for day-to-day management of the core finance and reporting team as defined by Management
Other:
Calculation of the Group's IFRS and Operative NAV on a quarterly basis (and ad-hoc estimated NAV at any time)
Assist in any other matter as required by the FD or CFO
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Qualified CA or ACCA
Over 3 years core finance leadership required
Fund accounting experience preferred
Managerial experience required
Music industry or royalty accounting experience would useful
Advanced Microsoft Excel (sumifs, index, match, lookups, indirect)
Experience using accounting software (NAV or Dynamics) preferred
