This April, the Barbican Centre presents '1996: A Celebration of the Wildest Year of Britain’s Wildest', exploring a defining moment in UK cultural history.

Bringing together music, film and storytelling, the exhibition revisits a year that reshaped Britain’s creative identity, from Britpop and club culture to film, fashion and art, capturing the energy and attitude that defined a generation.

Featuring original pieces including Spice Girls costumes, unseen Oasis memorabilia, and photography by Jill Furmanovsky and Derek Ridgers, the exhibition reflects the scale and influence of the era’s creative output.

More than a retrospective, it’s a reminder of how culture evolves, connects communities, and continues to shape today’s creative industries.
