We're working with a globally recognised news organisation, seeking a Digital Homepage Editor to join their fast-paced digital team for a 7 month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with sharp editorial instincts, a passion for breaking news, and a deep understanding of how audiences consume content across digital platforms.

In this role, you'll sit at the heart of a major digital newsroom, shaping how stories are presented to millions of users worldwide. You'll take ownership of key content surfaces, craft compelling alerts, and use creativity and data to drive audience engagement. This is a highly visible position that blends editorial judgement with strategic thinking.

Work hours = 6am to 2pm, 5-day shift pattern with weekend work included.

Must be available immediately / short notice. Must be UK based and commutable distance to London office (2 days min).

Key Responsibilities

  • Curate and manage core digital platforms with outstanding editorial judgement
  • Package and present content in engaging, innovative ways using a rich content library
  • Write and edit breaking news alerts and headlines with clarity and urgency
  • Anticipate audience needs and optimise content accordingly
  • Collaborate closely with senior editors and cross-functional teams
  • Use analytics and performance data to inform programming decisions
  • Support and occasionally lead junior team members during shifts
  • Contribute to broader content strategy and post-publication reviews
  • Identify trends in audience behaviour and recommend actionable insights
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality presentation across multiple content formats (video, articles, galleries, etc.)

Key Requirements

  • At least 2 years' proven experience in a digital news or publishing environment
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Experience using Chartbeat (essential)
  • Strong editorial judgement and decision-making ability under pressure
  • Comfortable working with analytics tools and performance metrics
  • Digitally savvy, with a strong understanding of multi-platform content
  • Comfortable working evenings and/or weekends as part of a shift rota
