Health, Safety & Security Manager - Retail

We're looking for a proactive Health, Safety & Security Manager to take the lead on all aspects of Health, Safety and Security across our client's warehouse and logistics operations.

You'll design, implement and continuously improve a robust programme that keeps employees, visitors and contractors safe, while ensuring full compliance with UK legislation and corporate standards. You'll be the "go-to" expert for Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Transport Safety, driving a behaviour-based safety culture and reducing accidents and incidents across the site.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Leading and promoting a behaviour-based safety culture
  • Owning and updating H&S policies, procedures and risk assessments
  • Conducting regular site inspections, audits and compliance checks
  • Embedding H&S requirements into capital and operational projects
  • Chairing the H&S Committee and driving actions to completion
  • Managing contractor safety, RAMS and permits to work
  • Maintaining accurate records (accidents, incidents, audits, permits, waste, etc.)
  • Running fire drills and managing COSHH, RIDDOR and other statutory reporting
  • Leading accident/incident/near miss investigations and tracking corrective actions
  • Delivering H&S training and toolbox talks; ensuring mandatory training is up to date
  • Overseeing outsourced security, stock loss controls, asset management and access control
  • Acting as the main point of contact for CCTV and access requests

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum); Diploma preferred
  • Experience in a H&S role within warehouse, logistics or distribution
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE regulations and behaviour-based safety
  • Excellent communication, influencing and coaching skills
  • A hands-on, practical approach with strong attention to detail
  • Experience with H&S systems, incident reporting, audits and risk assessments
  • Confidence using Excel, Word, Outlook and strong report writing skills
