Head of People - 4 days in the office, 1 from home

This is a brilliant opportunity to join this iconic media business as their standalone Head of People. The company sits as part of a group reporting to a HR Director, so you get the best of both worlds: real autonomy in your day-to-day, plus a wider People team to bounce ideas off in the background.

This is a true generalist role with a broad remit covering everything from employee relations and org design through to benefits administration, offer letters and policy work. You will be just as comfortable rolling your sleeves up for the admin and operations as you are having input into the strategic agenda. You'll also manage an Office Manager as well as a shared administrator.

This is a close-knit business that prides itself on relationships, so from their Head of People they need someone truly people focused with an open door policy - you'll prefer people coming to your desk rather than sending an email! The people in the business are passionate about the work, with many long serving employees who are at the top of their game.

While the business won't grow headcount significantly, there's a real ambition to continuously improve the offering and how they work, so things definitely don't sit still! In terms of your own role, there's real opportunity to broaden your remit over time wand get involved more with the wider group.

About you:

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent experience, with a strong grasp of UK employment law
  • A true HR generalist with experience across the full employee lifecycle, ideally from somewhere creative - publishing, film, music, arts etc
  • Comfortable in an SME-sized business, ideally with some exposure to a larger organisation alongside that
  • Hands on and pragmatic, you will be collaborative, flexible and equally happy in the detail and thinking strategically
  • An exceptional relationship builder with high levels of credibility, discretion and emotional intelligence.

If you're looking for a broad, varied role where you can make a genuine impact in a well-loved creative business, we'd love to hear from you.
