Are you an ambitious, visionary professional ready to elevate an iconic venue and shape its next era of success? My client, a global leader in live entertainment, is seeking an inspiring Theatre Director to lead a historic London theatre- a cornerstone of the cultural landscape since 1910. With a vibrant, year-round programme spanning musicals, comedy, dance, drama, family entertainment, and a renowned annual pantomime, this is a unique opportunity to drive performance, reputation, and growth.
With 2026 marking a significant year of investment to enhance the customer experience and future-proof the venue, you will play a pivotal role in elevating its reach, status, and commercial success, both locally and nationally.
As a priority you will:
Own the theatre's overall performance, balancing priorities across customers, team, shareholders, reputation, innovation, and growth
Make smart, strategic use of resources to achieve short, mid, and long-term goals
Drive new revenue streams- including sponsorship and partnerships- aligned to business goals
Be a people-first leader, fostering a positive, high-performing and inclusive culture
Grow venue EBITDA by setting and delivering clear commercial and operational targets
Collaborate closely with the Programming Director to shape a compelling, commercially successful programme
Support and expand community engagement initiatives, building strong local partnerships
Ensure full compliance with all legislative, health & safety, and operational standards
To be successful you will need:
Strong senior management experience- ideally at Head of Department level or equivalent
Proven ability to inspire, organise, and motivate large, diverse teams
A creative, results-driven and customer-focused mindset, delivering excellence in busy environments
Confidence in fostering change, engaging teams, and driving strategic priorities forward
Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Experience in developing teams, managing performance, and supporting individual growth
A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial awareness and budget management skills
A genuine passion for theatre and live entertainment is a must!
